Comparative Study Between Usguided Transversus Abdominal Plane Block With Iv Diclofenac Infusion For Postoperative Pain Management In Patients Undergoing Elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section

Dr Vinay Raj

ABSTRACT:

BACKGROUND: Regional anesthesia is a rapidly evolving subspecialty area. Over recent years there has been growing interest in abdominal plane blocks. The TAP block allows sensory blockade of the lower abdominal wall via local anesthetic deposition above the transversus abdominis muscle. Use of Ultrasound allows for real time guidance, direct visualization of needle, increases block success rate, less local anesthetic use and reduce risk of complications. This study was designed to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of bilateral US guided TAP blocks with IV voveran and IV tramadol on demand.

Methods:Patients undergoing elective LSCS were randomized into two groups. Group 1 (n=25) received TAP block at the end of the surgery. Group 2 (n=25) received IV voveran 150mg at the end of the surgery and IV tramadol on demand. All patients were operated under spinal anesthesia and received ondansetron 4mg IV as antiemetic prophylaxis

Results: Results will be analyzed statistically and will be presented.
