From the desk of Scientific Committee Chairman

Dear friends and colleagues,

Welcome to ISACON2014 and Templecity.

It’s indeed a great honour and privilege for me to extend a wholehearted welcome to all the delegates and the august faculty for the 62nd National Conference of Indian Society of Anaesthsiologists - ISACON2014 at Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India.

The theme of the conference is “Precept to Practice” which holds the meaning of Guidelines to Practice, to narrow the gap between guidelines and practice. It focuses on educational, training, practice guidelines and update on several aspects of great importance in the day to day practice of anaesthesia. The scientific sessions are planned to include areas of tremendous importance and includes luminaries in the field, both national and international. Our faculty comprises the most experienced teachers and renowned anaesthesiologists from all over the country and abroad. They pass on not just their knowledge, but their unwinding energy; not only to the delegates, but to us too. A host of new generation speakers should be seen during this conference and I am sure they will justify the trust that we have placed in them.

The scientific program is going to be a delight. We have mix of lectures, pro and con sessions, focus sessions, how i do it sessions, video sessions and workshops. We have tried to put the entire range of anaesthesia topics and hope you find the blend interesting and informative. The audience has a major role this year as majority of the scientific discussions are related to debates and issues that we face daily and their participation will go a long way in making these sessions highly interesting.

I sincerely express my gratitude and thanks to Prof Dr. Mahesh Vakamudi, Head, Dept. of Anaesthesiology and critical care , Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Chennai, for his mentoring guidance and support in making the scientific schedule and the scientific proceedings in a successful manner. I would also extend my thanks to my good friend Dr. Edward Johnson from Nagercoil for his guidance in making the scientific schedule. I extend my sincere thanks to all the members of National education committee, organizing committee and also the members of scientific committee for their wholehearted support for the scientific proceedings.

I would like to place on records of ISA for having more than 600 faculty which is the highest number in the ISA history and also are overwhelmed to receive more than 500 abstracts for Award Paper, Free Paper, Poster & E Poster Presentations.

I am sure that you will enjoy this conference, and find it a stimulating and informative meeting. I take this opportunity to request you to actively participate to add to the richness of this conference and make it memorable event.
