To a comparative study the effect of dexmeditomedine vases placebo on haemodynamic and recovery characters during tracheal extubation a double blind, randamised, controled study.
Institute : RMC, Kakinada, AP
ABSTRACT : The Alfa 2 Adrenoreceptor agonist, dexmeditomedine, provided excellent sedation with minimal cardiovascular instability or respiratory depression and useful adjuvant to facilitate smooth tracheal extubation.
METHODS : 50 as a grade I to II aged 2-14 yrs scheduled for general surgeries and urological surgeries were studied after randomization into two groups. Group A Received I.V infusion of dexmeditomedine 0.75 micro grams/KG in 50ml normal seline and group B received placebo infusion 50ml normal seline 15 min before anticipated time of end of surgery in a double blind manner. Heart rate, systolic, diastolic, mean arterial pressures were recorded while stating injection, during injection, during extubation and upto 30 min after extubation. Quality of extubation was evaluated on 5 point scale and post oprative sedation on 6 point scale.
RESULTS : haemodynamic parameters and exbution quality scores were significantly lower in Group A compare to Group B
CONCLUSIONS : Dexmeditomedine 0.75 micro grams /Kg administered before extubation stabilizes haemodynamics and facilitates smooth extubation
