Poster presentation on pregnancy with post mitral valve replacement for emergency lower segment Ceaserean Section

Management and pregnancy outcome of pregnant woman who had mitral valve replacement (MVR) and on anti coagulant therapy
METHODS : A 23 years pregnant lady of G5P1D1A3 38 weeks with post MVR 6 years back came for emergency LSCS. Patient is on UFH 5000U IV 8th hourly. Patient was intubated by 7size cuffed ETT under general anesthesia.
RESULTS : Intraoperative period was uneventful. Recovery was satisfactory and extubation is done.
CONCLUSIONS : Pregnancy in women with mechanical heart valves is associated with an increased risk of maternal and fetal complications. Managing of the anticoagulation of these patients is very important for life saving of mother and fetus and this case was managed successfully.
