Transmyelohyoid/submental intubation in a patient with nasal bone fracture,zygomatic arch fracture and mandibular fracture posted for faciomaxillary repair

ABSTRACT : case report of transmylohyodial or submental intubation in a patient for maxillofacial injury

METHODS : the technique of submental intubation is dicussed

RESULTS : the advantages and challenges in maxillo facial injuries are discussed

CONCLUSIONS : submental or transmylohyoidal endotracheal intubation is a simple and affective technique with low morbidity and an affective alternative to tracheostomy.

TRANSMYOHYOIDAL OR SUBMETAL INTUBATION FOR MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERIES – A CASE REPORT

Airway managements in patients with maxillofacial injuries is challenging due to disruption of components of airway. The anaesthesiologists has to share the airway with the surgeon. Oral and nasal routes for intubation are often not feasible. This technique is acceptable alternative to tracheostomy
