Subarachnoid block in a patient with Ebstein’s Anomoly: A case report
Institute : Adhichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, B.G.Nagara, Bellur, Karnataka.
METHODS : Spinal anesthesia using hyperbaric bupivacaine.
RESULTS : Good hemodynamic stability of the patient and recovery.
CONCLUSIONS : Spinal anesthesia is a useful method for hemorrhoidectomy in a patient with Ebstein\'s anomoly without cardiac decompensation. However it is to be used with caution after careful consideration of patient condition and surgical requirements. It is vital to meet the anaesthetic goals of maintaining the patient in sinus rhythm with careful management of both the pre and after load to the heart with optimal postoperative patient follow-up.
